Shakhtar’s rival at matchday 3 of the Copa del Sol group stage, one of the oldest football clubs in Sweden, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.  Kalmar was founded on 1 October 1910, bearing the name IF Göta. Though, they succeeded the National Championship title only once in 2008. Besides, there are three National Cups achieved by the Swedes in 1981, 1987 and 2007 among their trophies.

You can also find something similar in the history of both clubs, Shakhtar and Kalmar. It is a victory at the La Manga Cup. And what is more curious, both teams achieved it in 2008, but in different seasons. As a rule, the team usually could not qualify for the further stages.

By the way, David Elm, the former Kalmar’s forward, has joined FC Fulham. At present Kalmar is preparing for the new season in Marbella, as it held the fourth spot in the Championship table last year.  Nanne Bergstrand is currently coaching the Sweden side.
