As compared to the last game, the head coach Mircea Lucescu has somewhat changed the starting eleven of his team. First of all, Shakhtar is now back on 1-4-5-1 system. Apart from this Mykola Ishchenko, Mariusz Lewandowski, Jadson and Willian appeared on the pitch from the very beginning of the game.

5 min. Kobin fouled on Coelho on the left flank. Jackson made an attempt at a goal from a fixed situation, but Andriy Pyatov was vigilant and made a save with his fist.

7 min. Shakhtar responded with a furious counterattack. From the right flank Fernandinho passed to Gladkyy in the penalty area, but Oleksandr fell and failed to kick the ball sufficiently hard to make it into the net. Goriyanov took the possession of the ball.

14 min. Goal – 0-1. Antonov received the ball from the midfield area and storming into Shakhtar penalty box and succeeded to send the ball into the net after overpowering Kobin – the ball rolled into the goal from the foot of Pyatov.

20 min. In the midfield area Ishchenko did a sliding tackle in under Coelho’s feet. The referee took the actions of Hirnyky’s defender as the breach of rules and showed gave his namesake a yellow card.

27 min. The first replacement on Hirnyky lineups. Oleksiy Gai went onto the left side of pitch instead of Vasyl Kobin.

28 min. The hosting team created a dangerous moment at the goal of Metalist. Gladkyy was finalizing Fernandinho’s attack with a header but the ball went over the goal.

31 min. Goal – 1:1. Hirnyky equalized the score thanks to Marius Lewandowski. The Orange and Blacks’ halfback joined the attack and sent the ball into the Kharkiv team’s net while sliding, having been assisted by Srna after a free kick.

37 min. Hirnyky’s captain sped his way along the right side and passed to Gladkyy into the penalty box. Hirnyky’s forward was aiming his header into a far corner, but the ball went some centimeters above the goalbar. Literally half a minute later Srna and kicked the ball to the far corner with his left foot – the ball landed on the outside of the net.

41 min. The counter attack of the Kharkiv team was finalized with a strong long-range kick by Selin. Pyatov reached for the ball in a great leap. Hirnyky’s goalie’s attempt was not a success, but the goal was saved by goalpost.

43 min. Sergiy Valyayev and Yaroslav Raktskyy got booked for a foul play.

46 min. Douglas Costa replaced Ilsinho on the pitch.

48 min. Hirnyky earned a dangerous direct free kick from the centre at a 25 meters distance from the net kept by Markevych. Gladkyy and Putivtsev came into a collision while organizing the defensive wall and got booked, and Papa Guille saw yellow card before him for talking to the referee. The game was resumed from the fixed situation with Jadson kicking a bent ball that went close to the goalpost.

58 min. Gladkyy was able to get a header in his struggle with Goryyanov in the rivals penalty box and sent it towards the net. Fortunately for Metalist the goalkeeper was helped by Guille. During the next attack Costa took a strong kick checking Goryynov’s vigilance, but the captain of Kharkiv team saved the goal this time.

63 min. After a powerful kick by Oliinyk the ball bounced on Rakytskyy and nearly got into Hirnyky’s net rolling close to the goalpost.

69 min. Oleh Shelayev got booked for fouling on Fernandinho. 

74 min. Mircea Lucescu makes the last replacement in the game. Ruslan Fomin goes onto the pitch instead of Willian.

80 min. Goal – 2:1. Fomin assisted Costa with a cross pass from the left flank who then moved to the center and, overtook his opponent at a high speed and bagged the ball sending it directly into the corner from the penalty line.

84 min. Fininho got booked for a flick of the hand and a minute later Fernandinho was punished in the same way.

90 min. Fomin missed his chance to increase the goal difference. Hirnyky’s forward attempted a short-range header towards the net, but Goryainov assumed  right position and fixed the ball.

90+3 min. The referee signaled the end of the game. Having gained a well earned victory over Metalist, Hirnyky walked away with three very important points.
