Tymoshchuk moved to Zenit
Anatoliy Tymoshchuk left FC Shakhtar on Feb 28th. This one of our team’s bets
players has signed a contract with FC Zenit, Saint Petersburg.
Anatoliy set a new record: the highest for the entire Commonwealth of Independent States transfer fee was paid for this player - $20mlns.
Tymoshchuk had played 9 years in Donetsk. In the course of his playing career here he had turned from a promising young player into a mature footballer. Playing for Shakhtar Tymoshchuk has gained precious experience and won love and affection of the fans. It isn’t easy for us to say goodbye to Anatoliy, Shakhtar captain. But it was his decision and the Club accepted it with all due respect.
Anatoliy Tymoshchuk won many trophies and titles playing for the Donetsk team. Anatoliy was born in Lutsk on 30 March, 1979. He joined Shakhtar in March 1998. He helped Shakhtar to win the Ukrainian Championship three times (2001/02, 2004/05, 2005/06), three times the Ukrainian Cup (2001, 2002, 2004), and the Super Cup in 2005. He appeared for Shakhtar in 324 official matches in which he scored 34 goals; for the national team – 65 games and scored 1 goal. He played in the World Championship in Germany. He is an Honoured Master of Sports.
