Before the match

For Shakhtar, this friendly will be the fifth one on the summer training camp. In late June in Germany, Luis Castro’s men encountered the Bulgarian Ludogorets and CSKA; and at the Austrian preparation stage, they met with the German Uerdingen 05 and the Danish Copenhagen (three wins and one draw).

For the second time in a row, the Orange-and-Blacks will hold two games a day - at 13:00 and 19:00 Kyiv time (EET). On Friday, the coaching staff purposefully distributed the playing workload by fielding the majority of football players, while Saturday was dedicated to recovery and theory.

Opponents

FK Proleter represents the city of Novi Sad in the northern part of Serbia. It was founded in 1951. Just 10 years ago, the Red-and-Whites played in the third division, while in the 2018/19 season, they made their debut in the top flight and finished it in the middle of the table. They spent the second stage of the championship among the top eight sides, still failing to climb above the 8th spot.

In the summer, the club changed the coach: the 49-year-old Dragan Radojicic left the post, with the 38-year-old Milic Curcic replacing him. The young coach is still little known since he worked as an assistant manager in Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Lebanon. The captain and top scorer of Proleter Nemanja Covic joined the neighbouring outfit of Vojvodina, where he will work under Shakhtar’s former player Nenad Lalatovic. But the right winger Stefan Colovic remained – he provided 8 assists last season.

We want to mention that on July 7, the Red-and-Whites will have a friendly vs Zorya Luhansk.
