Match build-up

Shakhtar have three more matches to play this year. The team may face a tough test against Lviv because back in the first stage the Miners could not hit the back of the opponents’ net for more than an hour, and the recent meeting with Inhulets was decided by Tete's only goal. The Orange-and-Blacks are maximally motivated to claim a 100% result in December’s every game. In the UPL table, Shakhtar and Dynamo have equal points, but the Kyiv outfit scored two goals more.

In connection with the introduction of the ‘red’ level of epidemioloigcal danger in Kyiv, access to the stands will be allowed only upon producing the following documents:

Lviv could not win in the first eight league rounds, and in the ninth one they beat Minaj 2-1 in Uzhhorod (the goals were netted by a former Shakhtar Academy player Volodymyr Yakymets and Shyna). A month later, the  Lviv side clinched an away win vs Kolos (1-0, Oleksandr Romanchuk). Then they suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Desna. And before the match vs Shakhtar, the Belarusian Oleg Dulub’s men defeated Zorya (2-1, Shyna's goal and Tsvek's own goal) and Mariupol (1-0, Oleksii Dovhyi).

In the encounters with the league leaders, Lviv suffered two major home defeats in the second stage: 0-3 against Shakhtar and 1-4 against Dynamo. The Lviv outfit will try to catch every opportunity to take points away from the leading clubs, especially now, after securing two victories in November, which allowed them to slightly improve the standing in the table.

The game against Shakhtar will be missed by Ivan Brikner who has earned his fourth yellow card in the past round.

Shakhtar secured eight league wins against Lviv, with their opponents having two wins, alongside a draw. The aggregate goal difference is 28-7.

Previous league meeting

In the 2nd round at the Arena Lviv, Roberto De Zerbi's team scored three goals, with a goalless draw lasting until the 73rd minute. Then Traore headed home Marlos’s great delivery, the best sub Dentinho doubled the score with his first touch, and Pedrinho sealed the win after the attack involving Solomon, Marlos and Dodo (3-0).
