Champions of Bulgaria

In the regular part of the 2019/20 league campaign,Ludogorets did not suffer a single defeat: 18 wins and eight draws in 26 rounds. Then the top six teams in Bulgaria will play the title-challenging round within a single stage (five games for each team). Ludogoretssecured gold medals early, but in the last round they still allowed themselves to lose once to Slavia in Sofia (1-3).

The team have a new coach

Early this year, Valdas Dambrauskas became the head coach of Ludogorets. The 44-year-old Lithuanian has never been a professional footballer- he began his career in this sport in the mid-2000s with receiving a diploma in England. In 2009 and in 2010, he alreadyworked with Lithuania U17, later he coached Lithuania U19, Ekranas and Zalgiris. Then he spent a little over two years in Latviawhere he won the Cup with the RFS team and a yearwith Gorica in Croatia (16 wins in 30 matches).

Shakhtar are Ludogorets' second opponents

Ludogorets’ training camp will last until February 5th. Dambrauskas' team have already defeated the Serbian club Backa Topola 2-1 (through a double by Bernard Tekpetey on loan from Schalke 04). Besides the meeting with Shakhtar, they also announced the friendlies against Dynamo Kyiv and Maribor.

Brazilians vs Brazilians

Shakhtar's internationals are always interested in playing vs Ludogorets as there are several Brazilians on its roster.There are four of them now: goalkeeper Renan dos Santos, defender Cicinho (plays for Bulgarianational team since recently), midfielders Alex Santana and Cauly. The Eagles also have Wanderson who is recovering from an injury.
