U21. Vorskla vs Shakhtar: players’ view
After the match in Poltava (3-1), Shakhtar U21 players have shared their views of the game.
Andriy Boyarchuk, Shakhtar U21 forward:
- Vorskla are very uncomfortable opponents for us. They are good at set pieces, and we are good at making transitions from defence and finishing off attacks. Today, I scored two goals, made an assist, but some regret is left. I mean the moment at the end of the game when I did not make a pass to Gryn, who was in front of an empty net, but I hit goal wards but my shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Honestly, I did not see Serhiy - it happens in football. At the time, I thought I could make a hat-trick. Nevertheless, in a similar situation I made a goal assist to Igor Sukhaninskiy. Well, it is too early to talk about our lead in the table - the championship is only gaining momentum.
Igor Sukhaninskiy, Shakhtar U21 striker:
- I am glad that the coach believes in me, and I still continue in the same spirit - score goals. Today's goal is very important for me, it was the first time I scored for Shakhtar, the first goal scored in the U21 league. I can call it a good start for myself, that goal will give me confidence. It is always difficult to come on as a sub, because you have to turn the game around, strengthen the team. By the way, we studied Vorskla throughout the last week during theory sessions, practiced different situations in training. I think it helped us win.
Mykhailo Shyshka, Shakhtar U21 midfielder:
- By all criteria this match was difficult. In the middle of the first half we had gaps between the lines, but it is good that we came out winners, following the coaching instructions. This is my first game after an injury, and I would not say that I am fully satisfied with my performance on the field. Yes, today I took to the pitch as a captain. It was unexpected, but the trust of the coach helped in terms of morale, I felt extra responsibility. It is nice to have a lead, without the points lost, but we do not look at the standings. And today’s opponents were not favourites, so we just move on.
