Live broadcast available on Futbol 1 TV channel

This encounter is one of the major games in the upcoming league round. The match has been moved to Friday. It will enjoy special attention from the fans, because it never happens otherwise in the meetings between Shakhtar and Dnipro. Both teams approach the head-to-head duels with sky-high motivation and a huge desire to win.

It is essential for the Pitmen to gain the three points given their drawing with Vorskla in Poltava in the previous round. The charges of Mircea Lucescu must have maximum focus and get ready for a difficult game, as Dnipro’s goal is starting to overcome the crisis against one of their major competitors and challengers. The Orange-and-Blacks also have enough grounds to prove themselves and following the last season’s results – 0-0 and 2-3.

Match officials

Referee – Anatoliy Zhabchenko (Khmelnytskyi)

Either side have no suspended players. At the open training session of Shakhtar, Mircea Lucescu pointed out that the players have no major issues in terms of health, and that the line-up decision would be taken right upon the team's arrival in Odesa.

As for the official news from the camp of Dnipro, we should note the appearance of midfielder Michel Babatunde in the team, who is known for his playing for Volyn and Nigeria national team. If he is put on the squad list, he may well take the field against Shakhtar. Besides, Dnipropetrovsk reinforced their team with Danilo, the former midfielder of Metalurh Donetsk – he already played in the league’s 4th round against Dynamo.

Teams’ scoring average in the league:

Shakhtar – 2,5 goals per game;
Dnepr – 1,75 goals per game.

A striking example of why Shakhtar should not think about the form, in which the opponents will appear at Chornomorets stadium in Odesa, and hope for their weaknesses. At the end of the past league season, the Pitmen lost to Dnipro, represented by the players who were fielded in the starting line-up way less frequently.

It is noteworthy that Mircea Lucescu’s charges took the lead at the beginning of the meeting (Teixeira scored), but midway through the half Dnipropetrovsk gave their answer in the form of a goal by Mateus. Shortly thereafter, Alex grabbed a brace, but the developments in the second half of the game tipped the scales in favour of Dnipro. On 64 minutes, Bezus scored a header, and in the final stages of the game Luchkevych tipped home a Bruno Gama cross, making it 3-2.
