The Nigerian striker scored his first home goal for Shakhtar. The Donetsk fans enjoyed Julius’ tumbles performed by him after a precision shot from some twenty-metre range.

Highlight of the match

This chapter of the Donetsk-Zaporizhzhya story was written just 10 years ago, on August 28, 2005. From the Pitmen taking part in that match, only Vyacheslav Shevchuk is still in the current squad. Darijo Srna could also appear there, but he missed the squad list.

Debutant  Leonardo

The 19-year old Brazilian defender, who had moved moved to Donetsk from Santos, played his first match in the orange-black shirt. Leonardo made his debut just a few days after his presentation as the newcomer. After the game, Mircea Lucescu mentioned that the defender looked good in the first half, but after the break he made a number of mistakes.

Man of the match – Oleksiy Belik

Shakhtar striker produced a magnificent performance, becoming the hero of the meeting. Alex not only put his name on the scoresheet after grabbing a brace against Metalurh, but also earned a penalty, which was converted by Elano.

Quote of the match  Mircea Lucescu

- The score was probably closer to 7-0 than to 3-1. There was a lot of selfishness in the final stages of attacks. But I am satisfied: the team are growing, showcasing some meaningful football.

Highlight of the match

5 years ago, Shakhtar met with the Zaporizhia side two times in a row: first in the Ukrainian Cup game (1-0), and then in the league. Compared with the cup tie, the Pitmen’s line-up changed dramatically. Only Jadson and Luiz Adriano were on the starting-lineup list in two consecutive games.

Highlight of the match

The Donetsk team dedicated their victory over Metalurh to the family of Oleksandr Kucher. Just on that day, the Pitmen’s defender had an important event: a son was born to him, whom the happy parents named Lukyan.

Figure of the match – 203

This meeting was Mircea Lucescu's 203rd at the helm of Shakhtar in the Ukrainian league, which became an absolute coaching record for the Donetsk team. Thus, the Romanian specialist beat Valeriy Yaremchenko, under whose leadership the Orange-Blacks played 202 domestic games.

Quote of the match – Darijo Srna:

- We always have a problem with Zaporizhzhya: both at home and away. I can’t explain it, it's probably a tradition now. Most importantly, we won and showcased good football. Unfortunately, we scored just few goals, but that’s OK – we’ll do better in the next game.
