Shakhtar at Euro 2015: hard-fought draw with Austria

On 12 July, in the match of the final part of the Euro 2015, Ukraine U-19 faced Austria. The game featured Shakhtar’s Academy players: Mykola Matvienko, Ihor Kirykhantsev, Beka Vachiberadze, Denys Arendaruk, Andriy Boryachuk and Oleksandr Zubkov.

Despite the fact that both teams lost chances to reach the knock-out stage, the first minutes of the game saw a tough game with regular dangerous chances created by both teams. Ukrainians proved to be luckier than their opponents and opened the scoring on 14 minutes thanks to Zubkov’s efforts. Austria got back into the game in the beginning of the second half. Kvashyna got on the scoresheet. Ukraine were definitely determined to register the first win at this Euro. Oleksandr Holovko’s charges were energetically going forward, and on 63 minutes Luchkevich put his team in front thanks to an accurate shot. The Austria team had to again equalise. In the end of the Kvashyna again netted a goal to make it 2-2.
