Shakhtar in national team: Ukraine beat Georgia

On 9 June, the Ukraine national team beat Georgia in a friendly fixture.

Three Shakhtar’s representatives took part in this game. Taras Stepanenko and Vyacheslav Shevchuk played one half, and Yaroslav Rakitskiy played the full game. Stepanenko had the opportunity to score as early as in the third minute, but his long range effort was blocked by the defender. Shevchuk was actively involved in the game. On 65 minutes, Vyacheslav was brought down in the opposition penalty area after a contact with the opponent, but the referee whistle kept silent.

The first goal proved to be accidental. On 57 minutes, defender of the Georgia national team Dvali made a back pass to the goalkeeper, who failed to take control of the ball. The ball hit the goal post and bounced straight to the feet of Artyom Kravets – 0-1. After a few minutes, Mykola Morozyuk delivered a cross from the right flank, and Yevhen Konoplyanka sent it into the net. On 81 minutes, Georgia’s forward narrowed the gap by heading the ball in following a cross from the flank.
