Guess the Score: winners take the floor
Recently, our site named the winners of the Guess the Score project. Let us remind you that the top prize winner Oleg Serik will attend the Pitmen’s Champions League game, while Yuliya Semenchuk and Valeriy Ostashchenko will receive free VIP Club 1936 tickets for all of Shakhtar’s European games in the 2015/16 season.
- This has been my third season in the Guess the Score! I finished the last season in the sixth spot in the overall ranking and, of course, set myself a goal of winning it this season no matter what. But before the game vs Dynamo Kyiv, I was only in the third spot. I think this match was a turning point both for Shakhtar in their title race and for me. As a fan of the Pitmen with a great experience, of course I wanted to bet on our team winning, but after analyzing the situation for the moment, I still predicted a tie and became the winner. If only this result could have helped the lads emerge victorious! Frankly, I still can’t believe I have won a trip to the away game. I just can’t believe it! However, I have no international passport, so I very much want that we get a club from the country requiring no visa, - said Oleg Serik.
Meanwhile, Yuliya Semenchuk believed in her victory till the end:
- We've been married for seven years now. My husband is an avid fan of Shakhtar and he made me become their fan either! Initially, I did not understand many things in football, but then I did not miss a single match of the Pitmen, and whenever possible my husband and I attended the games at the Donbass Arena. We are from Volnovakha and, of course, we can’t support our favourite team in the stadium, but I haven’t lost heart. I decided to predict the outcome of the Orange-and-Blacks’ every game, especially when I learnt that there was this Guess the Score contest. But, don’t you think it’s just luck. Before each match, I visited the website, read the players’ comments and those of Mircea Lucescu before the game, analyzed it and then tried to guess the score. Of course, it’s a little bit sad that I have long led the overall rankings, and then I lost the top position, but that’s OK - this is extra motivation for me to become No.1 next season!
Valeriy Ostashchenko also didn’t hide his emotions:
- I cannot say that my victory is pure luck, - admitted the Donetsk resident. The main thing is to believe in the team, and success will come! I have been a fan of Shakhtar for over forty years, our large family has a whole dynasty of fans. And I have been playing this Guess the Score game since the moment when this project had appeared. When Shakhtar played friendlies in Brazil, it wasn’t possible to take part in it because there was no Internet connection due to the hostilities in the Petrovskiy district of Donetsk, where we reside. In the final rounds of the current season, I started joining the leading pack. I am glad that I’ve claimed the third spot. At this difficult time, we’ve got at least some joy in our lives!
