(DUFL) Chornomorets vs Shakhtar: match report
On 21 June, in the debut match of the DUFL, the Pitmen faced Chornomorets.
Starting from the opening minutes of the game, it was evident that this encounter would not be easy for either of teams. However, it was Shakhtar, who managed to take control of the proceedings. The Pitmen were periodically creating dangerous goal-scoring chances, but the opponents were defending well, and were trying to create goal-scoring opportunities through dead ball situations. Vyachistyi came close to opening the score, after bearing down on goal, he hit the ball towards the near corner of the net, and the Odesa goalkeeper managed to make a save. Chornomorets quickly orchestrated a counter attacking move. The hosts were stopped only through infringement of rules in the Pitmen’s penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot. But Gurskiy parried away a penalty kick. As a result, the match-up of these teams ended in a goalless stalemate.
The Shakhtar U-15 head coach Oleksandr Koval has reflected on the game:
- We dominated proceedings, we played well in the attacking third. We were actively using the flanks, on which Drozdov and Pribluda were operating. We piled on pressure upfront, but dangerous chances did not come. The opponents spent more time in defence. Chornomorets tried to get the most of their set pieces, but Chornomorets’ most dangerous chance came after winning the penalty kick.
