(DUFL) Dnipro 0-1 Shakhtar
In the first match of the final part of the DUFL, on 28 June, the Pitmen U-17 faced their peers from Dnipro.
Despite the fact that Gennadiy Orbu’s charges played versus serious opponents, Shakhtar managed to confidently take control of the game. The Donetsk side regularly went forward and created dangerous chances. Dnipro’s fans were troubled by dangerous shots from Prodanov, Slastinov and Porodko. But the result was brought only by a great diving header from Tkachuk, who left no chance for Dnipro’s goalkeeper. In the second half Shakhtar were more focused on defence to stick to a winning result which our team managed to do.
The Pitmen’s head coach Gennadiy Orbu has reflected on the match:
- In the first game, there was present certain nervousness. We dominated proceedings, but our finishing is suffering. We could have decided the outcome of the game as early as in the first half. In the second half, we deliberately gave the initiative away. Indeed, our main task was to win, and it is good that we have done that.
