The Ukraine U21 team played their away Euro 2017 qualifier against Scotland U21. Shakhtar’s players Viktor Kovalenko and Bogdan Sarnavskyi took part in the game.

The game proved to be packed with action. From the first minutes the teams looked very energetic, trying to win every individual battle and challenge for the ball in every area of the pitch. The game was rough sometimes, which resulted in the referee showing seven yellow card and one red card during the game. On 26 minutes, Ukraine could have opened the scoring. Dmytro Khlyobas found a good position to send the ball into the net. Scotland responded after five minutes. Cummings fired the ball past Bohdan Sarnavskyy after a pass from Makginn from a free kick. On 37 minutes, Scotalnd agains capitalized on a set piece. This time Paterson slotted home a cross from Henderson from a corner. In the second half, Ukraine dominated proceedings. Despite the fact that our team regularly created chances, they failed to seize on them. A Serhiy Kovalets team managed to avoid their fourth defeat in a row thanks to an Oleksandr Svatok shot on 83 minutes to make it 2-2. Ukraine took the first point at the qualifying stage.

On 17 November, the Ukraine U21 national team will face Northern Ireland in the Euro 2017 qualifier.
