U21. Hoverla vs Shakhtar: preview

On matchday 16 of the Ukrainian U21 league, Shakhtar will play an away game with Hoverla Uzhgorod. We bring you the preview of the match.

Shakhtar U21 are still topping the league table with 34 points after 14 games. Hoverla are sitting rock bottom of the table with 5 points after 15 games, and the team’s streak winless streak now amounts to 14 rounds in a row. The Uzhgorod team have scored the lowest and conceded the highest number of goals in the league – 6 and 50 respectively.  The last time Hoverla took points was on 22 October, when they played out a 1-1 home draw with Oleksandriya. In the last round, Hoverla U21 suffered their heaviest defeat of the season – 7-0 at the hands of Vorskla.

Before match

The game will take place in the village of Kamenitsa (15km away from Uzhgorod on the pitch of the training complex Kamelot. Here, before the match of the U21 sides of Hoverla and Shakhtar, the teams faced each other as part of the U19 league. Miguel Cardoso’s charges came to Kamenitsa a few days before the game and prepare in the territory of the complex. Both teams do not have suspended players.

Head to head record

At the start of the season Shakhtar U21 beat Hoverla in Schaslyve 4-1. Rostislav Rusin, Oleksandr Pykhalyonok, Andriy Boryachuk and Serhiy Gryn scored for Shakhtar. In the previous league campaign, the Pitmen beat Hoverla 8-1 and 7-0.

Interesting fact

Hoverla U21 got their only win in the current league campaign in the first round over Dnipro (2-1), Dnipro are now sitting second one point behind Shakhtar. Besides, Hoverla will play their home at STK Kamelot in Kamenyts for the first time in this season.
