U21. Shakhtar vs Chornomorets: match preview

In the last round Shakhtar U21 and Chornomorets U21 got 4-1 wins. Thanks to a hat trick from Andriy Boryachuk, the Pitmen beat Olimpik Donetsk in Bila Tserkva, and the Odesa side managed to score four goals in the second half of the match against Vorskla, after conceding in the first half.

Miguel Cardoso’s team continue confidently topping the league table, claiming 8 wins and 1 draw in 9 games. The Pitmen notched up 25 points, 6 points more than Dynamo, who are going second. The Pitmen’s opponents on Matchday 10, Chornomorets U21, are sitting fifth in the table.

Shakhtar U21 forward Andriy Boryachuk is confidently topping the top scorers’ list. Our forward has netted 13 goals in 9 games, 5 goals more than nearest pursuers. Boryachuk did not play in the match against PSG in the UEFA Youth League, compared to Oleksandr Zubkov, who played full 90 minutes versus the French side, with also scoring a goal. As for suspended players, the Pitmen’s Argentine forward Facundo Ferreyra, who was sent off in the game against Stal U21, is unavailable for the match with Chornomorets.


In the past season, Shakhtar U21 and Chornomorets U21 finished close in the league standings: in the fourth and fifth places respectively. The games between two sides saw intensive battles. In Odesa, the teams played out a goalless draw, and in the April match at the training base Poltava, the Pitmen managed to win 2-1; before the break both sides were reduced to ten men.
