U21. Dynamo vs Shakhtar: match preview

The Matchday 11 game will see an encounter between leaders, who are sitting in first and second places.  Having claimed nine wins in ten games to take 28 points, the Pitmen continue topping the table confidently. Dynamo are 6 points behind.

In the previous round, Miguel Cardoso’s team got a hard fought 3-2 win over Chornomorets after trailing 2-0 after the first half. Goals were scored by Mykyta Bezuglyi and Taras Kacharaba, plus a goal from the league top scorer Andriy Boryachuk – 14 goals in 10 matches.

During the international break, Shakhtar U21 were training at the training base in Schaslyve. Some players had a three-day training camp in Turkey with the senior team: goalkeeper Oleg Kudrik, defender Taras Kacharaba, as well as the midfielder Artyom Gabelok and Oleksandr Zubkov. In the match against Dynamo the Pitmen’s coaching staff won’t be able to deploy the Argentine forward of the first team Facundo Ferreyra, who is still serving a suspension after receiving the red card on matchday 8 game against Stal youth side.


Shakhtar and Dynamo youth sides have scored the highest number of goals in the league campaign – 27 and 29 respectively. Both sides have equal goal difference ratio – 20. The teams have faced each other on 22 occasions, with two sides claiming 7 wins and 8 draws.

In the past season’s games between two teams, the opponents got away wins. In Kyiv, at the Dynamo stadium, the Pitmen were trailing 2-0 after the first half, but within a pace between 70 and 82 minutes Miguel Cardoso’s charges scored three goals to clinch a 3-2 win. In the match of the second half of the championship at the Poltava base, the game was developing similarly: the Pitmen opened the scoring in the first half, but after the half time break they conceded two goals to lose 2-1.
