U21. Dynamo vs Shakhtar: players’ view

After the match, Shakhtar U21 players have shared their views.

Oleksandr Zubkov, Shakhtar U21 midfielder:

- It is hard to lose, especially in such a match, against arch-rivals Dynamo Kyiv. It's hard to tell what happened: maybe we were slack from the first minute, maybe there was not enough, maybe problems with morale. Although, if Gryn had scored early in the game, who knows how the game would have developed. At half time we talked to the guys and I think we had a good second half. We did not apply sufficient pressure against the opponents in a crucial moment. Physically, we are ready, probably we were not lucky enough or maybe we lacked composure. The defeat, of course, is unpleasant because we are showing good football in the league. We will analyse the game and move on.

Mykhailo Shyshka, Shakhtar U21:

- We failed to show our game today. I would not say that our morale was poor, because there is no need for extra motivation for games versus Dynamo. Perhaps, the opponents tactically outplayed us: they would often find free zones, many dangerous passes were made. We did not play well with the ball, did not open up, created few scoring chances, which is unusual for us, and even has great difficulties when reaching the opposition penalty area.

Andriy Boyarchuk, Shakhtar U21:

- I think we were playing tactically wrong from the first minutes, we did not observe the discipline of the game. It was necessary to close the opponents down, and we had a free zone in the middle of the field, where Dynamo felt comfortable and passed the ball further. Yes, the tide of the match in the second half could have been turned in our favour, but our conversion of chances let us down. Everyone accepts defeat in his own way. But I think there will be something to think about. Dynamo are good opponents, and I would like to see more teams like that in the championship.
