U19. Malmo vs Shakhtar: players’ view
Players of the Donetsk have reflected on the match in Sweden.
Giorgi Arabidze, Shakhtar U19 forward:
- I am very happy to have played in the first match for Shakhtar in the UEFA Youth League! However, my adaptation period is not over, it is necessary to develop and make progress. Today was a tough game with a worthy opponent, no one wanted to lose. And the scoreline reflects that. How to explain such a large number of goals? I think during some moments in the match each team looked to lose concentration. Plus we and Malmo committed bitter mistakes. Naturally, we are dissatisfied with the result – we could have scored more. But still, after the final whistle, coach thanked everyone for the game, for the work done. Although we realize that the score is not very good. Of course, we want to win, but it did not work out... I cannot speculate about our chances of qualifying from the group, but I can assure you that we will make every effort to achieve the goal!
Mykola Matvienko, Shakhtar U19 defender:
- Today, defensive errors played their role, a lot of goals were conceded. Three of them - after set pieces. Before the game, the coaches told us that the opponents were strong in this component, but somehow we did not pay attention to it. Having missed the first goal, we were frustrated a bit, and then we found strength to play well in the attack. We could have scored more, but failed to convert numerous chances. It's a shame that we did not win. It's worth noting that we played on synthetics. Yesterday, during a training session, it was a little awkward and strange. But this is not the main reason for such an outcome of the game.
