U21. Zorya vs Shakhtar: players’ view
At the end of the game, the Shakhtar U21 players shared their impressions.
Serhiy Gorbunov, Shakhtar U21 midfielder:
- We work hard in training and try to make progress. Therefore it is very important that today we have won. I would like to thank the guys: they received me very well and helped me in everything. Thanks to this, I settled in the new team well. In the episode with the first goal, the opponent unsuccessfully kicked a ball – I received it and hit the target. And in the end, we won a penalty. Andriy Boyarchuk takes them in our team, and this time he took it too. After the match, head coach praised us. Despite the fact that in the second half we were playing reduced to ten men, we acted confidently and scored one goal. We are glad to have won, but there is still a lot of rounds to go, so now we are starting to think about the upcoming games.
Dmiytro Steflyuk, Shakhtar U21 defender:
- In terms of game plan we managed to perform much of what had planned. Zorya defended well, but we managed to carve their defence open. It is good that we managed to score at the end of the first half. During the break, we tried not to lose concentration, operate correctly in defence and make quick decisions in the attack. After the sending off, the opponents went forward in numbers, but we played a tight in defence and did not allow opponents to create anything. This victory is doubly important after a match with Dynamo. It is good that we managed to hold on to the lead in the standings.
Taras Kacharaba, Shakhtar U21 defender:
- We were preparing for this game like for each round. As expected, from the first to the last minute on there was a tough game on the field, it was a real derby. We understand that we need to act as a team. If you lose the ball, you immediately have to try to recover it. During pre-match instructions, we were told that Zorya hold fast counterattacks, so we closed the opponents down in their own half of the pitch. The second half turned out to be more difficult due to the fact that we were down to ten men. But nothing terrible has happened, we worked for ourselves and for Mykyta Bezuglyi, who was sent off. It is important not to concede and bring the match to a victorious end.
