Shakhtar forward Andriy Boryachuk scored eight goals in six games and continues to confidently top the list of the league’s top scorers. Boryachuk’s goal-scoring streak includes five consecutive games, while in the previous meeting with Zaporizhya-based Metalurh (5-0) the Shakhtar striker scored a hat-trick.

During the break related to the matches of corresponding national teams, the first team of Shakhtar travelled to Italy, where they played two friendly matches. The following players of Shakhtar reserve team were involved in the above games: goalkeeper Yevhen Grytsenko, defender Danylo Sahutkin, midfielder Artem Gabelok, as well as forwards Andriy Boryachuk and Oleksandr Zubkov.

Shakhtar reserve team finished fourth last league season, while the Kharkiv team concluded their past league campaign two lines adrift of the former. In the head-to-head meetings, the Pitmen claimed a home victory in Poltava thanks to a goal by Artur Zahorulko (1-0), with both teams finishing the match short-handed. In the March game of the second round, at Metalist’s training base, the charges of Miguel Cardoso missed the victory: enjoying a two-goal lead at halftime (after Mykyta Adamenko and Andriy Boryachuk got themselves on the scoresheet), the Donetsk team lost it, conceding the second goal in the closing stages (2-2).

We want to note that at the stadium in Lyubotyn, the reserve teams of Metalist and Shakhtar played for the last time back in May 2012. In the presence of more than two thousand spectators, the teams did not reveal the winner (0-0). And this season, the Kharkiv side are taking on their opponents at Olympiyets stadium for the first time ever.
