DUFL: second half effect

As part of the DUFL, 26 September, the Pitmen U14 and U16 played an away game with Metalist, and Shakhtar U15 and U17 entertained MFC Kremin.

In the game with Metalist, the Pitmen’s younger team tried to take control of the game straight away. However, the Metalist side did not give the initiative away. The game turned into individual battles. The goal scoring opportunities began to appear after the half time break. Metalist had decent chances to take the lead but Trubayevskyi made saves. On 47 minutes, Abdulayev won the ball, played it into his own path to bear down on goal and send the ball into the net.

Shakhtar U14 head coach Andriy Zabolotnyi has reflected on the game:

- We saw an evenly matched game. Metalist’s level is high in terms of individual craft. However, it was Shakhtar who created more dangerous chances in this game. Our boys played well in defence, operated based on the result. We know that the Kharkiv side are one of our main rivals in terms of advancing from the group, so such points were especially important.

In the older group both teams made it feel from the start that they are determined to win. Metalist and Shakhtar periodically created dangerous chances, but it did not bear fruit. And the main action took place in the centre of the pitch. The game was decided in the second half. After nine minutes following the half time break the Pitmen found an opportunity to orchestrate a dangerous counterattack, which led to a goal from Vyachistyi. After ten minutes, Pribluda extended the Pitmen’s lead. The closing stages of the game proved to be tough. First Alnchuk scored our team’s third goal, but in the next episode Metalist scored a consolation goal from a free kick.

- The game proved to be nervous, especially in the first half, - Shakhtar U16 head coach Gennadiy Zubov has reflected on the game. – The first half saw an end-to-end game. It was clear that hot weather affected both our team and the opponents. It was not easy to create, we tried to make quick transitions from defence to attack, exploit the flanks. In the second half, after we scored, we noticed that Metalist slowed down a bit. After that we scored two more goals. Our boys performed a great deal of work today – we thanked them for dedication, will to win.

In the match involving Shakhtar U15 and Kremin, the Pitmen controlled the ball better, dominated proceedings, forcing the opponents to sit in their half of the pitch. But the Pitmen’s attacks did not always lead to shots. The turning point in the game was again the half time break. On 44 minutes, following a cross from a corner, the goal was scored by Golik. Kremin managed to respond. And it proved to be successful. After ten minutes the visitors orchestrated an attacking move and levelled the score following a set piece. Shakhtar needed little time to go in front. The incisive move of the Pitmen resulted in Golik’s second goal following a pass from Pelipak. The closing stages of the game proved to be rich in events. In the stoppage time Pelipak scored a brilliant goal, sending the ball into the net from a corner.

- Kremin quickly showed their defensive play with orchestrating counterattacks, - Shakhtar U15 head coach Oleksandr Ladeyko has reflected on the game. – The boys were unable to capitalise on their dominance, which they had. This time the flanks looked energetic through efforts from Prokha and Biblik, but they did not have support from the middle of the pitch. During the break, we improved. In the second half, the team started playing in a more confident manner. As a result, it led to a goal lead. It was a hard-fought but a confident win.

The Pitmen’s senior team went forward straight from the off. The visitors sat deep in defence and organised attacking moves periodically. Despite the Pitmen regularly creating chances, they managed to score only in the final minute of the first half. Vakulenko opened the scoring. After the half time break, the game remained the same. Valeriy Rudakov’s charges took total control of the game, and on 53 minutes Kaschuk hit the target. In the remaining time it was Vakulenko show. On 57 minutes, he scored our team’s third goal, and after that he scored two more goals against Kremin, netting his fourth goal of the match. In the final minutes of the game, the visitors created a number of dangerous chances, but the Pitmen’s defence cleared the dangers.

- I would note that in Schaslyve there is a new artificial pitch of a good quality, - Shakhtar U17 head coach Valeriy Rudakov has reflected on the game. – As for the game, today the opponents, as expected, played on counterattacks, they did well in that regard. Unfortunately, we wasted our chances, made technical errors. We did better in the second half, improving our teamwork in quality terms. It allowed us to bring the game to a win. We will prepare for the upcoming games. We cannot relax as our opponents are confidently claiming points too.
