Introducing opponents: Piast
As part of the training camp, which started in Spain, the Pitmen will face Piast (Poland) on February 2 at 20:00 Ukrainian time. Traditionally, let’s get acquainted with the opponents.
Piast was founded in 1945. The team were named in honour of the first Polish prince and the royal dynasty. For most of its history the club have played in the second division, and only in 2008 they won promotion to top flight.
The current season for the team from Gliwice can be called one of the most successful ones. The team went into the winter break as the league leaders with 45 points after 21 games. The closest pursuers are Legia. They have 40 points.
The team’s top scorer this season is Martin Nespor. The Czech striker has scored 8 goals in 19 games.
Piast play home matches at the City Stadium. It holds 10 thousand seats.
Head coach is Radoslav Latal. Before, the Czech coach was in charge of such clubs as Kosice and Banik.
