Florida Cup: Dmytro Shutkov played in all-star match
A few hours before the match between Shakhtar and Fluminense, Orlando’s ESPN ARENA hosted an all-star game. The Pitmen were represented in this game by goalkeeping coach Dmytro Shutkov - the legendary goalkeeper of Shakhtar and the Ukraine national team has devoted his entire career to the Pitmen, defending the colours of the club for 18 seasons!
The teams, who took to the pitch today as part of the international tournament Florida Cup, were formed exclusively of celebrities. The starting line-up consisted of former players who shined in the championships of Latin America and Europe. Among them were Asamoah (Schalke and Germany national team), Lincoln (Schalke, Atletico Mineiro), Marquez (Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro), Sorin (Argentina national team), Roque Junior (Milan), Edu Gaspar (Valencia, Arsenal), Doni (Roma and Brazilian national team) and many others. They were partnered with stars of sport and showbiz.
The match was preceded by the opening ceremony, the main star of which was the Florida Cup 2016 ambassador Ronaldo. The legend of world football symbolically kicked the ball to begin the game.
Despite a stellar selection of players, the game took place in accordance with normal rules of a football match - two halves of 45 minutes. The only exception, taking into account the status of the meeting, was an unlimited number of substitutions. At the end of the match the Dmytro Shutkov team snatched a 6-5 win. For a festive and friendly atmosphere that reigned on the field, big scoreline is a common phenomenon. It should be noted that our goalkeeper made a number of fine saves.
- Of course, I would like to keep a clean sheet, but that's football – I conceded a goal from the penalty spot. But the most important thing is that our team have won! It is an honour and it was nice to take to the field today. By the way, I was the only representative from Europe! I am glad to have met a colleague from Roma – Brazilian goalkeeper Doni. Today, he was my counterpart, although in the second half for some reason he left the goal to begin to play as a forward! - Dmytro Shutkov says. - In general, it was unforgettable experience: here was very friendly atmosphere, many children came to take autographs! I even gave the gloves and the kit – I couldn’t refuse.
We remind you that on Sunday this very same pitch will see Shakhtar’s first match in the Florida Cup. The Pitmen will face the Brazilian side Fluminense.
