Before the match

Metalist sit in the 11th spot in the league. The Kharkiv side are two points adrift of Hoverla and three points behind Olimpik.

The team coach Oleksandr Sevidov gravely noted at the post-match press conference that in connection with banning Zaporozhya-based Metalurh from participation in the competition, no one is knocked out based on the sporting principle. Therefore, the remaining league matches are a matter of honour for Metalist and the opportunity for young players to prove themselves the best way possible. Undoubtedly, the game against Shakhtar will be a top motivation for them.

Already before the break, Teixeira scored the second goal for the Pitmen. In the second half, the Donetsk side were on top either, with Kucher, Teixeira (penalty) and Gladkyy putting their names on the scoresheet. As a result, Shakhtar claimed a confident away 5-0 win.
