In the U19 Ukrainian league round 7, the Miners took on Zorya Luhansk

Valeriy Bondar started for the Donetsk side, as he played for Shakhtar U21 yesterday. Illia Shevtsov dropped behind a forward to replace Dmytro Kryskiv in this position, with the latter missing out the game due to the disqualification.

Powerful start

The Miners started in a very powerful way: inside opening ten minutes, Shevtsov, Kulakov and Holod could put their names on the scoresheet, with the Luhansk side’s goalkeeper denying their efforts every time. The visiting outfit fought back and even created a couple of attacking moves in response, but in the 28th minute, they still failed to hold back the Orange-and-Blacks: Andrii Kulakov gathered a pass on the left edge of the penalty area and fired from an acute angle to see the ball deflect off the defender and then home to make it 1-0. Having given the possession to the opponents, but without losing control of the game, Shakhtar began to wait for the opponent's mistake and converted their chance on 37 minutes. Holod took a throw-in from the right flank directly into the penalty area, before Illia Shevtsov shielded the ball, pushed back the defender and flicked into the far top corner to double the lead 2-0. Even before the break, the score could have become bigger, however, Kulakov hit the keeper first, and then missed the target from a promising position.

Without chances for the visitors

The debut of the second half put the game away and finally demoralized Zorya. Maksym Andruschenko intercepted the ball on the opponent’ half of the pitch, raced into the penalty area and beat the shot-stopper to see the ball deflect off the Luhansk side’s defender Shakun and then home – 3-0. In five minutes, the Donetsk side earned a set piece in the midfield, with a beautiful shot from Yukhym Konoplia cannoning back off the crossbar and then in – 4-0. Serhii Shyschenko’s team continued to produce attacking performance, however, Shevtsov, Muravskyi and Kuzmenko did not realize their opportunities. However, the hosts claimed one more goal: Kaschuk played a corner from the right, as Artem Bondarenko swept the ball home from three meters. In the last 15 minutes, the Orange-and-Blacks weakened the grip, but they could well get on the scoresheet again. However, this goal was enough to secure a confident thrashing victory. 5-0 - Shakhtar have thumped the rivals in the third home match in a row to strengthen their leading position in the league.

September 26, the Miners are expected to hold the UEFA Youth League round 2 match with Manchester City.
