Equal access to football

The group featuring 14 pupils from the Believe in Yourself city centre, also includes a few mentally retarded children. The 45-minute session included individual exercises with the ball, special games and tasks. The kids were trained by the volunteer coaches who had received special training based on the English Premier League methodology.

- The mission of Shakhtar Social is to give every child the opportunity to play football. There can’t be any boundaries and barriers here, - pointed out Yuriy Sviridov, the FC Shakhtar Communications Director. - After opening the Come on, Let’s Play! grounds in 9 Ukrainian cities, we took the decision to create conditions for the children with special needs. It’s important that the kids have the opportunity for physical rehabilitation and social integration in society.

The general partner of the Come on, Let’s Play! project for the development of children's football is DTEK company.

- This is a significant event for Mariupol, for the whole of Ukraine, for the children with disabilities who will be able to practise their favourite sport, - says Tatiana Overina, the Director for Regional Policy at DTEK Energo. – It’s important for parents to know that their child is involved in some useful occupation. For our company, the co-operation with FC Shakhtar within the Come on, Let’s Play! project is not just social responsibility. We want to give children a chance for their personal success stories, regardless of their level of preparation, their finances and other abilities.
