On August 29, Bukovyna stadium in Chernivtsi played host to a children's tournament called Talent Day

96 boys born in 2005 and 2006 from 7 regions of the country (Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk ones) took part in the event of the Shakhtar Social foundation. According to the competition rules, the guys were divided into 6 groups of 16 and played the 4-on-4 games with changing the line-ups in each round.

To show the talent

The basic rules and principles of Talent Day have long been worked out, as earlier, the same events took place in Kharkiv, Lviv and Mariupol. At each location, the participants receive points depending on the game’s aggregate outcome and individual indicators, in particular, the goals scored.

The 13-year-old Artem Nurdinov from Chernivtsi became the best on points. Andrii Zehrya, Kyrylo Oliinyk, Tymofii Simkov, Mykyta Hodovalets and Ihor Lytiatskyi claimed the top spots. All the winners received gifts from the club.

- I liked everything very much! There were many strong guys, it was interesting to play them, - Artem Nurdinov shares his impressions. - I’m delighted to have secured the win. In addition to studying, I dedicate all my free time to football, I continue training and dream of playing for Shakhtar one day.

Academy trials

The chance to enter the Academy of the Champions of the country is one of the main stimuli for all Talent Day participants. The Shakhtar scouts closely follow the competitions in the cities.

- This is a beautiful region, with every event we get more and more talented children. There were some gifted guys from the Chernivtsi, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions, - explains the Shakhtar Academy scout Ivan Kotsyuba. – We highlighted ten boys, with two or three of them being really gifted - we will gradually invite them for trials. First of all, the young players should be smart and to think on the field. Plus, we check their technique, pace and ball handling. It’s true that not everyone will make it to the Academy, but the best of them will be able to try and to prove themselves. For children, such events are kind of a real holiday!

In July, based on the results of the Shakhtar Talent Day competition in Mariupol, the 13-year-old Maksym Derkach from Chornomorsk (Odesa Oblast) was admitted to Shakhtar Academy. He has already started training with the U14 team.

The next Talent Day will be held in Zaporizhya.
