Shakhtar’s training session was attended by the refugee children, the team wished them happy holidays
The event was initiated by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Shakhtar Social Foundation.
Good tradition
For four consecutive years now, the youngest fans have attended one of the last training sessions to visit the Miners. Today, 60 refugee kids, including those from family-type homes, have visited Shakhtar. The first surprise awaited them even before the session: real Shakhtar club buses brought the children to Sviatoshyno. And on the field, the boys and girls were met by the team players and coaches, who happily talked to them, took pictures and signed autographs.
- Nothing must be spared for children! They mean a lot to me, so I happily take part in such events and advise everyone to support such initiatives, - says Shakhtar goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.
- When I attended the Academy, I always dreamed of meeting with the first team players, - recalls the Shakhtar defender Mykola Matviienko. - I think such attention is pleasant and important for the kids. Maybe for someone, it will serve as a stimulus to play football.
Emotions and gifts
Of course, the guys did not miss the opportunity to play football with their idols. A few passing moves and the scored goal - kids remember such moments for a long time.
- I like Shakhtar, because they always win! - the children shared their impressions, they also pointed out that it is necessary to follow the players’ examples and learn from them in order to become the genuine athletes.
Naturally, the event did not pass without gifts. From the hands of Shakhtar players and coaches, the guys received the New Year sets containing footballs, player kits, souvenirs and sweets. The team got charged with positive energy ahead of the crucial UCL clash vs Lyon to take place this coming Wednesday, December 12, at the NSC Olimpiyskiy (the tickets are on sale now).
