The Come On, Let’s Play! project kicked off in Shchastya of Luhansk Oblast
The social project aimed at developing the children's grassroots football is being implemented by the Shakhtar Social foundation in partnership with DTEK.
Coach Oleksandr Skydan
60 children have already signed up for the Come On, Let’s Play! in Shchastya. Oleksandr Skydan, the father of the former Shakhtar player and the current Shakhtar Academy scout, has become an administrating coach in his home town.
- The project allows boys, girls, children with disabilities to continuously play football. It is open to everyone and can be the first step on the way to the world of sports and healthy lifestyles. Welcome! - said the FC Shakhtar Academy scouting coach Yaroslav Skydan. - I am grateful to the club and DTEK for launching the project in our town. I’m sure this will provide impetus for the development of children’s grassroots football in the club’s home region. Guys, just come here, train and play! And I will come home more often and watch you: if you meet the skill level, we will certainly invite you to the Academy.
First tournament
On October 13, Shchastya hosted a competition featuring two age groups. Among the kids under 10, the Lions claimed a win (with Illia Reznychenko being named the Best Player). In the U12 group, the Petrovka team proved stronger, with Mykhailo Lyutov standing out individually.
- Such projects will allow young people and all the town residents to develop. I want to thank Shakhtar and DTEK. Together, our sports infrastructure will expand and become even more accessible to children, - pointed out the Shchastya town mayor Oleksandr Bohynia. - Congratulations to everyone on the start of the Come On, Let’s Play!. I wish our little champions to achieve results in training and to always claim only victories.
The participants have been provided with football kits and everything necessary for training. Shchastya is the 13th Come On, Let’s Play! town. Earlier this autumn, the project also kicked off in Ivano-Frankivsk, Burshtyn and Chervonohrad.
