On September 26, Mariupol saw the start of training the children’s grassroots football coaches based on the LaLiga methodology

This is the first joint project of Shakhtar Social and one of the world's leading football leagues.

Guests from Spain

The LaLiga Training Methodology Course is conducted by the Spanish LaLiga professional tutors: Carlos Rodriguez Diaz - a coach of the Atletico Madrid Academy, and Jose Angel Garcia Ruiz who specializes in sports psychology.

- This is our first time in Ukraine and in Mariupol. We are very glad to be here and to collaborate with Shakhtar. We want to train the local coaches in the methodology of the training process used in the LaLiga, - pointed out Jose Angel Garcia Ruiz. - Previously, similar projects were implemented all over the world - in China, the United Arab Emirates, Norway and other countries. It’s necessary to develop children's and youth football in different locations. I am very pleased about the enthusiasm with which the participants approached our course. A great group of coaches! We will provide them with the major ideas and we want them to apply them in practice, since both theory and practice are important. I'm sure this week will be fruitful for everyone.

Busy schedule

52 young coaches from 15 Ukrainian cities and towns take part in the training (Kurakhove, Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Donetsk, Makiivka, Kostiantynivka, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Kyiv, Burshtyn, Zelenodilsk, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Lozova, Kremenchuh), including volunteer coaches of the Come On, Let’s Play! project.

On the first day, they had 3 theory and 2 practice sessions. The young specialists got acquainted with the LaLiga methodology and received information about the training structure. Later, they moved to the pitch and watched the visitors working with the young people in training.

- We are expanding the project area, increasing the number of grounds and children involved in grassroots football, - said Yuriy Sviridov, the FC Shakhtar Communications Director. - At the same time, we understand that to some extent we are responsible for the quality, therefore we consider it necessary to use the best expertise and to continuously train our coaches.

The joint project of Shakhtar and LaLiga will last 5 days, ending on September 30. All in all, there are 14 theory sessions, 7 practice sessions, and 2 workshops scheduled within the module.
