On September 29, the Come On, Let’s Play! project kicked off in the town of Chervonohrad in Lviv Oblast
The social project for the development of children's grassroots football is implemented by the Shakhtar Social Foundation in partnership with DTEK.
National scale project
Chervonohrad has become the 12th Come On, Let’s Play! town. 60 children aged 7 to 12 started playing football there.
The former player of Shakhtar and Ukraine national team Vyacheslav Shevchuk was the special guest at the grand opening:
- Greetings to everyone! I want to thank DTEK, who jointly with Shakhtar contributed to organizing the project Come On, Let’s Play! in Chervonohrad. I come from Lutsk, so I always worry about the development of children and sports in Western Ukraine. I am delighted at this undertaking. I wish everyone good luck! Play football, lead a healthy lifestyle, and in the future I want to follow on TV your victories.
Tournament and awarding
On the first day, they held a tournament for U10 and U12. Chervonohrad is a mining town, so the names of the teams fully corresponded to this status. According to the outcome of 20-minute games, the winners in different age groups were the teams of Hirnyk and Vuhliar.
The mayor of the town of Chervonohrad Andrii Zalevskyi:
- I want to thank FC Shakhtar and DTEK for supporting the children's football in Chervonohrad and for everything necessary they provided for training. The more fields, the more kids are involved in sports. It’s very important for our youth to be healthy.
DTEK Zakhidenerho CEO Oleh Taraschuk:
- The start of the Come On, Let’s Play! project is a landmark event. Sport is discipline and hard work. It's not so important whether you will become professional footballers in the future. The main thing is that it will be much easier for you to achieve your goals in life. I wish everyone good health and every success!
After the tournament, they awarded the children with medals, diplomas and souvenirs, and the young project participants Mariya Seredokha and Tatiana Tokareva received Shakhtar player kits as gifts.
We want to remind you that earlier, in September, the Come On, Let’s Play! project was launched in Ivano-Frankivsk and Burshtyn.
