On Tuesday, August 13, Shakhtar held their first training session in Sviatoshyno this week
Nearly until mid-September, the team of Luis Castro have been having a very favourable work schedule. The players can prepare for games in weekly cycles: the league games coincide with weekends, each of the games is preceded by four to five days of preparation. As the domestic champions, Shakhtar will start their European campaign in the UEFA Champions League group stage (by the way, the Miners will know their future opponents soon).
After defeating Dynamo, the Orange-and-Blacks’ manager gave his men two days off. Today, the manager held a short theory session with the coaches and players analysing the playing situations of the last match before going to the pitch.
However, some team members had to do without the ball. Blanco Leschuk, Fernando, and several other players had a recovery session. Viktor Kovalenko was doing laps together with a physio. The rest were facing a warm-up, jogging, and a small-sided game. In about ninety minutes, the players completed all tasks.
Next, the Miners will have an away game. The meeting with FC Lviv kicks off at 19:30 on Sunday, August 18.
