On December 2, the NSC Olimpiyskiy hosted Ukraine’s Football Stars 2019 grand award ceremony

This is a joint project of the Ukrainian Association of Football and the All-Ukrainian Association of Professional Football Players that determines the winners across several categories based on the year results. The ceremony was attended by Shakhtar players, the club CEO Sergei Palkin, the manager Luis Castro, and assistant manager Darijo Srna.

Country’s best Academy

At the beginning of the gala event, they awarded the U20 World Cup Winners: Ukraine U20 coach Oleksandr Petrakov and its captain Valerii Bondar took the stage.

The FC Shakhtar Academy won in the Best Football School category.

“I want to share this award with everyone who works every day to make our Academy great,” pointed out Jorge Raffo, the Shakhtar Academy director. “I also dedicate this victory to my whole family in Argentina who always support me, especially to my father who must be smiling right now from the sky.” I want to thank the CEO Sergei Palkin and president Rinat Akhmetov for choosing me to be part of this great club Shakhtar.”

Pyatov is number one

The Best Goalkeeper award went to Andriy Pyatov, the goalkeeper of Shakhtar and Ukraine.
Andriy Pyatov: “Probably, I am one of those who don’t talk much, mainly just on the pitch. Finally, they began to pay more attention to goalkeepers. This is one of the tough jobs, we might call them thankless ones. So the award is ours, of all goalkeepers. Thanks!”
In the top 11

As many as six Shakhtar players entered Ukraine’s Dream Team 2019: goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov, defender Mykola Matviienko, midfielders Taras Stepanenko, Taison, Marlos, and striker Junior Moraes.
Taras Stepanenko: “I want to thank the organizers for the invitation, for the opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends in an informal atmosphere. Thanks for the award. We are recalling everyday life, training sessions, and matches. It means that we did something well, and right, e that achieved victories in our football careers. Thank you so much!”
Taison's Golden Ball

And the highlight of the evening was the announcement of the name of the Football Player of the Year - the award went to Shakhtar captain Taison:

“First of all, I would like to thank my club teammates and Mister. I am really happy to be here today and to receive this award. I am a guy who left Brazil in 2010 and was chasing the dream. I also want to thank my wife who is here now with me, as always. I am just brimming with emotions. Many thanks to you!”

This is a reminder that in 2017 and 2018, Shakhtar midfielder Marlos received the Golden Ball.
