The post-match press conference of the Eintracht manager Adi Hutter

- We’ve had a pretty good start before the return leg. We got it owing to the fact that we had the opportunity to enjoy the numerical advantage for 80 minutes, among other things. I’m basically satisfied with the result, but we didn’t take advantage of numerous chances. And the second goal against us was fully unnecessary. As a result, everything will be decided in the return game.

- You said that you came to secure a good start. Did you succeed at that?
- I think that the away draw against Shakhtar, who play at the top level and are always dangerous, is a positive result. The match was very dynamic. We scored two away goals, which is valuable. I hope that with the support of our fans in Frankfurt, we will achieve our goal.

- Why did you replace Rode at half-time?
- He could have stayed on the field, but I saw that he was getting tired and his muscles couldn’t stand the pace.

- Five years ago, in the first leg against Porto, you had the same score, with the second game ending 3-3. Do you see this as a bad sign?
- I wouldn’t exaggerate and look for some undercurrent here. We can look at the score of 2-2 at different angles: it’s convenient for us, and at the same time it could be dangerous. But I feel confident about this matter.

- You haven’t fielded Haller. Why?
- Because I considered the risk of that kind of substitution as too high. It’s quite dangerous to field at low temperature the player who already had certain issues - he could’ve got injured. So I dropped that option.

- You used the ‘magic triangle’ of Gacinovic - Rebic - Jovic. What do you make of them?
- I deploy all the players. It was dynamic. The guys showcased almost everything I wanted from them both offensively and in midfield.

- How d’you find the atmosphere at the stadium and on the field?
- It's hard for me to judge the atmosphere. It was created largely by our fans, for which we are really grateful to them. In general, I can say something based on the games against both Shakhtar in Lviv and Dynamo in Kyiv. The football community in Ukraine is quite active, producing certain enthusiasm. In the second leg, we will have our own atmosphere, and we will gladly share it with you. As for the pitch: its upper layer was slightly frozen, so the play was not always easy.

- Do you agree with the ref’s decisions: a spot-kick awarded against you and sending off a Shakhtar player for two fouls? Did they affect your original plan?

- We all saw these two fouls. The player must understand the situation: if he’s got a yellow card, he must be careful and not to be involved in such rough tackling, because the risk of another booking is very high. I think that’s obvious.
