Marcos Antonio gave his first interview as a Shakhtar player
- I’m incredibly happy to be part of the Shakhtar family! This is a great club. The first days of training were excellent, the team received me well. I’m glad to be in this team.
- At Shakhtar, they pin high hopes on you. What does this move mean to you?
- I’m really delighted at the opportunity. I hope to meet Shakhtar’s every expectation, to adapt as soon as possible and help my teammates because our main goal is to win.
- Tell us about your way in football.
- I started playing at school when I was very young. From the age of 12, I played for Athletico Paranaense, and last year I moved to Portugal - I joined Estoril. Now I'm at Shakhtar, and this is a great opportunity. I’m happy that I will wear a shirt of this great club.
- Who do you look up to and whose playing style do you like?
- I like the performance of Casemiro and Coutinho. Excellent passing, great shooting, pace and the ability to score goals are the best attributes of any player.
- Do you know any Brazilians who previously played for Shakhtar?
- Yes, I know them very well. Fernandinho, Fred, Jadson are great players. They have great careers, excellent passing, and other qualities.
- What position and role on the pitch do you prefer? Name your strengths, please.
- Probably, my best feature is an accurate pass. This will be useful for the team, I can benefit them. I also like to quickly burst into the opposition box, shoot on target and score goals.
- In Brazil, you are considered a great talent, you are one of the Brazil U20 leaders. Do you dream to play for the national team?
- This is the most cherished dream of any Brazilian - to wear the national team shirt. I will work as hard as possible at Shakhtar to make it come true one day.
- In winter, you took part in the South American U20 Championship and were included in the competition’s dream team. Is that a prestigious recognition?
- Of course, I was very happy. I found myself there thanks to all my teammates. It’s important to continue working, and one day, I will play for the national team.
- What do you know about Shakhtar and Ukrainian football?
- Shakhtar is a great club. 10 years ago, they won the UEFA Cup - I consider this event to be really big and memorable. I hope that we’ll be able to do a lot with the guys for the club history now.
- Will the Brazilians help you with your adaptation?
- Yes, and this is very important. I was glad that the guys gave me a warm welcome. Besides, we played together with Cipriano and Fernando in the national team.
- What do you make of your form? When should the fans expect your debut?
- I will try to prepare as quickly as possible. Fitness wise, I feel great, because I trained with both Estoril and the national team. The most important thing is to get adapted in Shakhtar and to enter the pitch.
- Will you have to adapt to the local climate?
- A little bit, but the cold, basically, does not bother me that much. I will try to get used to it as soon as possible. The main thing for me is to wear a Shakhtar shirt.
- What would you like to say to the fans?
- Dear fans! You can expect the young footballer with some excellent qualities. I will try to help Shakhtar win every trophy. Hopefully, you will be with us and always support us.
