On September 25, OSK Metalist in Kharkiv hosted Shakhtar Talent Day
This is the seventh Shakhtar Social event enabling children to show their talents and allowing scouts to view candidates for enrolling to the club Academy. Kharkiv played host to the Talent Day event for the second time.
82 boys born in 2006 and 2007 competed on the field of OSK Metalist. Children from 20 places have attended the Talent Day (Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Izyum, Kramatorsk, Krasnokutsk, Lysychansk, Lozova, Luhansk, Pokrovsk, Novomoskovsk, Odesa, Pershotravneve, Rubizhne, Kharkiv, Bezlyudivka, Pesochyn, Ukrayinsk, Shpola, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy).
According to the event format, the participants were randomly split into 5 groups and played 4 on 4 with changing the line-ups, gaining points in each match that allowed them to more evenly distribute the boys at the second stage.
Here is a key innovation at Shakhtar Talent Day: from now on, the top five players are guaranteed to be invited for trials at the FC Shakhtar Academy. In Kharkiv, the winners were Arsenii Vdovichenko (Odesa), Roman Snitsar (Ukrayinsk), Mykhailo Lenart (Kharkiv), Yevhen Petrov (Odesa), and Kyrylo Hubarev (Kramatorsk). They also received Shakhtar player kits as gifts.
In addition, a Shakhtar Academy scout followed the performance of the boys, noting some promising footballers regardless of the number of points scored.
“Everything passed well! The stadium is magnificent, and the kids took to the field with a great desire to prove themselves,” said the Shakhtar Academy scouting coach Maksym Mozhaev. “There were some participants with pretty good attributes who didn’t make it into the leading group by points, but we noted them and, when possible, we will try to invite them for trials. All of them are talented in their own way. And the fact that the guys from the provinces also get a chance to prove themselves is an undoubted plus of such events.”
