Participants in the Come On, Let’s Play! project received New Year gifts as part of the Rinat Akhmetov to Children! charitable event

Everything for winter training

Traditionally, Shakhtar Social wish happy winter holidays to the participants of the largest grassroots football project in Ukraine called Come On, Let’s Play! This year, as part of the Rinat Akhmetov to Children! charitable event, 1,200 project newcomers from 36 settlements of the country received gifts. The kits for young athletes include a backpack, a shirt, a hat and a thermal mug with the Shakhtar logo.

Inna Khmyzova, Shakhtar Social Director:

“This year has seen the 20th Rinat Akhmetov to Children! event. I remember how it all began 20 years ago in Donetsk, the first years when we held relevant events through the efforts of the club. Back then, we provided targeted assistance to orphanages and boarding schools, gave gifts to children. And over the years, the event, of course, has transformed. I am sure that we have begun to better understand the audience we work with and the needs of children. This year, we have decided to give some useful gifts to the children who visited us for the first time this season. A backpack for sports footwear or sportswear, a hat and a thermal mug are exactly the things that these kids need for training in winter. I suppose that they will appreciate it.”

The Come On Let’s Play project is being implemented by Shakhtar Social with the support of DTEK in 36 locations across Ukraine. The children aged 7 to 12 have the opportunity to play football for free at high-quality grounds with all the necessary equipment and under the guidance of certified coaches. The project involves mainly the socially disadvantaged children: those with disabilities and special needs, along with the IDPs or those living near the contact line. That is why this kind of attention and useful gifts are particularly important to them.
