Shakhtar U19 claimed a narrow win at Oleksandriia U19 on the Ukrainian League MD10

Set-play half

In the first third of the match, the teams played without creating any danger. Losenko started one of the first promising attacks with passing from deep, but Oleksandriia's defenders put pressure on Veklenko just in time, preventing Artem from shooting on target. Mykytyshyn could have scored a great free-kick but for the wall being effective. Midway through the half, the Miners got full control of the developments, while the visitors played more defensively. In the 28th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks did rip open the group defence and made the visiting defenders err: against Artur Mykytyshyn was fouled on in the penalty area, with the referee pointing to the spot. Ivan Losenko converted a spot-kick in his third match in a row, making it 1-0. Ivan could have scored a double right there, but the Oleksandriia keeper showed great reflexes. Closer to the break, Bako could have scored a free-kick - just wide. The Yellow-Greens had their first and only chance after a set-piece, with Puzankov coolly saving Burdak's attempt.

Equal play

Early in the second half, Shakhtar might have doubled the score: Mykytyshyn brought Veklenko through on target that was almost unguarded, but Artem failed to handle the ball and produced a well-timed shoot, with Losenko finishing the attack slower and sending the ball high. Oleksandriia snapped back dangerously: Mukhamatgaleev shot close to the post, with Chaban trying to send it home from close range - Puzankov stopped it. In the 55th minute, the captain Hulko joined in the positional attack – just wide. Then Artur Mykytyshyn brought Kristian Bako on target only to see the Oleksandriia keeper Fert rescue his side. A few minutes before the final whistle, Shakhtar scored a second time: Losenko fed Shevchenko who cannoned it into the back of the net only to witness the goal being disallowed due to his offside position. In stoppage time, Oleksandriia could have elvelled the score through Tarasenko's effort, but Puzankov parried away his header.

This is the Miners' third win in a row. In the next round, Shakhtar U19 will play Dnipro-1 U19 away on November 28th.
