Shakhtar goalkeeper Oleksii Shevchenko visited the boy recovering from a road accident in Dnipro

In early October, the 12-year-old Vladyslav Kovbasa was returning home from school and was hit by a KamAZ truck at one of the city crossroads. As a result of the accident, the boy was seriously injured and treated in an intensive care unit.

Vladyslav is back home now. On November 28, on the Dnipro-1 v Shakhtar matchday, the Shakhtar goalkeeper Oleksii Shevchenko visited the boy, took a photo with him as a memento and handed him presents: a personalized Shakhtar shirt, a backpack and a scarf.

“Such a terrible story happened to the guy ... He still cannot walk. It's very sad,” said Oleksii Shevchenko. “We will be helping him. I hope for a good result, hope that Vlad will be able to live a full life, develop and do what he loves. I wish him good health and not to lose heart!"

Vladyislav immediately said that he would like to wear a Shakhtar shirt in physical education classes. The boy's mother Irina shared her emotions and told about her son's recovery:

“Thank you so much! We are very glad that they came to visit us and presented gifts. The child is really happy. He's shy but will remember this meeting for a long time. We didn't tell him about it in advance - we decided to make a surprise. I only said in the morning that today there would be a small gift, and he kept asking who was going to bring it, and when the guests arrived he got confused ... Before this story, Vlad played football, we wanted him to enroll for football classes but, unfortunately, it was late ... The doctors hope that he will walk. We’ve already put him on his feet, and now he is going to undergo a rehabilitation course, along with exercise therapy and massage sessions.”

Let us remind you that at the Dnipro Arena tonight, Shakhtar will have the Ukrainian League MD11 game vs Dnipro-1. It kicks off at 19:30.
