The official opening of Shakhtar Football School took place in Kyiv
30 schoolchildren aged two to eight years old took part in the training session with Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Shakhtar midfielder signed autographs and had pictures taken with the novice players. In total, 60 children currently attend the Shakhtar Football School in Kyiv.
Yevhen Konoplyanka, midfielder:
“Spending time here is super! It's nice to watch kids who love football. To be honest, I’m a bit shocked because my son is three years old and I was afraid to get ahead of events. I waited for the moment to bring him here when he is ready. I didn't even realize that at two or three years old children can run here with smiles on their faces, happy, they really enjoy everything and listen to the coaches. So I will find out how my son can get here and control this situation. The idea is great and right: spending time in a useful way, not at home with your iPad. Moreover, each parent can come here and watch their child progress. I wish our coaches patience, so that they properly and successfully prepare children for the entry level in football.”
Anastasiya Klypachenko, Shakhtar Football School coach:
“I have been working with preschoolers for 6 years now, and the methodology of our work involves a special approach to children: we try to develop them to be athletic and agile. Of course, we can’t say if a three-year-old will definitely become a football player. Parents bring their kids here for the latter to become disciplined, active, and be able to work in a team. We have different exercises, almost all of them are ball exercises, as well as those for developing focus and coordination. And at the end of each session, for example, we learn new English words. That is, it is a holistic development of the child. Shakhtar are a strong team, the champions. All our coaches were trained at the Club Academy. I will not reveal all the secrets. Bring your children to our school, we will love, cherish and train them!”
