On September 23, before the game against Rukh, Shakhtar defender Vitao visited the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Centre in Lviv

The 11-year-old Maksym Luzan is an oncological patient. He has been undergoing treatment at the surgical department of the medical centre. The boy is a football fan, so Vitao did not go to meet him empty-handed. The Brazilian defender presented the guy with his personalized Shakhtar shirt bearing the number 10 along with an autographed football.

Inna Khmyzova, Shakhtar Social Director:

“Shakhtar have played home games in Lviv for two and a half years. When we learned about Maksym who is undergoing treatment here, we couldn’t just ignore this story. The team decided to support the boy because he really needs some positive emotions, therefore Vitao went to visit him. The player presented Maksym with a T-shirt and a football and wished him a speedy recovery. I’m sure that both Maksym and Vitao got some positive feelings. We understand that football players are the idols and stars so much liked by the kids. We would like to hold such events as often as possible. Let it be one child in every city or town, but it’s good even if we can bring some joy to at least one kid.”

Vitao, Shakhtar defender:

“I am glad that I could come here and put a smile on Max’s face. It’s pleasant and invaluable to me. All children have a dream. It’s enough for me to remember myself: I really love football, and for me as a child meeting with one of the idols had always been my dream. It's good that I came here, hopefully I managed to give him at least a little bit of joy. It’s difficult to speak at such moments, but I wish him some great strength ... He should fight, never give up, and then, I believe, everything will be fine.”
