Match build-up
After the postponed MD2 game vs Rukh U21 (3-1), Shakhtar U21 team boast the maximum result - three wins in three games. Heorhii Sudakov and Bohdan Viunnyk scored goals in each game, with the goalkeeper Mykyta Turbaievskyi stopping the second spot-kick this season. On Saturday, September 26, Fernando Valente's lads will face the league underdogs Olimpik U21 who have not scored any points yet.
Opponents
Olimpik U21 have not participated in the competition for about eighteen months. Midway through the 2018/19 season, the teams of U21 and U19 were suspended due to their participation in fixed-outcome games. The suspension period expired before the start of the current season, and they had to form the squads literally from scratch (at the base of Rubicon Vyshneve). The start turned out to be tough: defeats to Dynamo (0-9), Dnipro-1 (2-4) and Mynai (0-1).
Head-to-head record
In the U21 Championship, the opponents had 12 encounters: the Miners won 10 times, with two more games ending in a draw. The goal difference is 32-5 in favour of the Orange-and-Blacks. The teams met for the last time in the 2018/19 season (3-3 draw and Shakhtar’s 5-0 victory).
