Shakhtar U19 narrowly defeated Mariupol U19 away

For the first time this season, the reserve team footballers Dmytro Kapinus and Danyil Honcharuk have played for Shakhtar U19.

Multiple chances

Shakhtar created a dangerous chance in the 9th minute: Honcharuk, being in the penalty area, sent the ball high. In the next attack, Bako sent a cross from the left flank along Zhuk's goal, but Yuschenko did not have enough time to complete the attack near the far post. Total possession midway through the first half developed into threatening chances by Yuschenko and Bako. The Mariupol side counterattacked occasionally, with none of the counters causing Tymur Puzankov any issues. In the first half, the teams failed to open the scoring.

Honcharuk's goal

After the break, the Miners continued attacking. Another chance occurred after a corner delivery by Bako when Balakai nearly sent the ball into the back his own net. In the 59th minute, Shakhtar still scored one: Hluschenko burst into Mariupol’s goal area and conveniently fed Honcharuk, with the striker experiencing no issues with hitting the unguarded net – 0-1. At the end of the match, Svityukha could extend the lead by getting one on one with the goalkeeper, but Zhuk won this duel. Mariupol’s Panchenko tried to equalize after a corner kick only to see Puzankov easily stop the attempt.

Shakhtar continue competing for gold medals. In the next round, the team of Oskar Ratulutra will meet with their direct competitors Dynamo Kyiv on April 17.
