In an interview to Futbol 1 TV channel, Junior Moraes commented on his brace against Mariupol and shared his expectations for the upcoming meeting with Dynamo
- Shakhtar really showed that they want to win. Congratulations to all the guys on the positive result. I’m very happy and satisfied, but it’s important to stay focused in the rest of the league games.
- In the last two UPL games you have scored more goals than in all the previous ones. What’s the reason behind this performance?
- That’s life, every football player has ups and downs. It doesn’t always happen the way you want it to, it’s not always possible to score. The most important thing is to keep working and give your all in training with full concentration. Only good preparation is the key to victory.
- Your first goal was spectacular, and you created that chance almost independently.
- Mariupol dropped deep and close to their goal. We made a few deliveries into the penalty area, without much success though. To create chances, you need to look for open spaces. So it happened that time: I saw the space between the centrebacks and fullbacks and realized that it was possible to go there.
- Please comment on the second goal scored from the spot. At what point does the kicking player decide to send the ball down the centre?
- I’ve been playing in the Ukrainian championship for quite a long time and I realized that you need to vary a lot while taking the penalty-kick. The strike down the centre is not my favourite, but sometimes you need to surprise people. This time, it has worked out.
- The next match vs Dynamo will surely be doubly motivational for you. Are you going to score against the Kyiv outfit too?
- You always have motivation when you meet with the higher-standing team. Plus, undoubtedly, the Clasico is a special encounter. We’ll try to fully focus on the game. I think we have the necessary qualities for winning. We’ll try to do our best to make the Championship even more attractive.
- Dynamo have a more comfortable tournament position and, unlike you, can afford to draw.
- It will be an interesting match, and we’ll do our best to win it.
