Head coach of Shakhtar women's team Roman Zaiev commented on the Ukrainian Cup last-8 draw that pitted his side against Kharkiv-based Zhytlobud-2
- How would you comment on the draw? Did you want to play against the Premier League opponents at an early stage?
- You can’t choose your opponents. We will prepare for the match with full responsibility. We have been drawn against Zhytlobud-2. But had we been drawn against Ladomir or Kryvbas, nothing would’ve changed. We are accepting the draw outcome and preparing for the match against Zhytlobud-2, especially since the matches will take place just in April and we’ve got enough time.
- Shakhtar have not met with any top-flight clubs yet. How important is it to look at the team compared to their higher-class opponents?
- We are ready to play against any opponents. In football, it all depends on the extent to which the rivals allow you to show your strength. Of course, before the match, the opponents will have a certain advantage because Zhytlobud-2 are already in the vanguard of women's football in Ukraine. But I wouldn’t count us out either because the cup clash consists of one meeting and anything is possible. I think that so far it’s impossible to name a clear favourite of this encounter. I want to repeat that the match will depend on how the opponents allow you to play against them.
