Two applications made by Shakhtar Social were among the 67 projects supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children

In late November, the results of the annual competition were announced at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the UEFA Foundation for Children with the participation of the UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin. 1,227 applications from all over the world were submitted to the board for consideration.

“The grants received from the UEFA Foundation show that our partners have confidence in us as a foundation. This is good news. But most importantly, the grants will make it possible to roll out new projects that children can benefit from,” said Inna Khmyzova, the Director of Shakhtar Social.

Football for children with disabilities

The first programme aims to make football accessible and affordable to 180 children with disabilities in 6 cities of Ukraine and have 50 coaches trained in the aspects of inclusive football. The project also includes regular football training sessions and clinics for children. The goal of the initiative is to create favourable inclusive conditions for the development of sports, and football in particular.

Street tournaments in Kyiv

The second programme is Community Champion that arranges social street football tournaments in Kyiv for children aged 7 to 15. The project will last two years. Its purpose is the development and popularisation of social inclusion, healthy lifestyle, tolerance, volunteering, as well as the involvement of parents and local communities. The project will be implemented with the support of the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) and clubs from the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Great Britain, and Spain.
