Shakhtar will play Minaj away in the U21 league round 25
May 5, Uzhhorod, Avanhard, 15:00
Match build-up
In the previous round, Fernando Valente's team tied with Dnipro-1 at home. Edvard Kobak scored his 10th goal this season, but he and the left-back Buleza will miss the game vs Minaj due to suspension.
Kostiantyn Hurov, Shakhtar U21 captain:
“We psych ourselves up for this match just like for any other, and regardless of the fact that season is nearly over, we will take the pitch with full dedication. The opponents have a good team who try to play football and not just kick the ball forward. Minaj are trying to display some fluid play, but we need to primarily focus on our performance, so everything depends on us.”
Opponents
Late in their debut season, Minaj are sitting in the 11th spot in the table with 19 points (goal difference is 20-57). The Transcarpathians have just a theoretical chance of getting into the top ten, but to do that they need to win in the closing league rounds and hope that Lviv will suffer defeats. Dmytro Kabachok's team play at home much more successfully than away (they secured 13 out of 19 points at the home ground). In the previous tie against Zorya Luhansk, the forward Maksym Navrotskyi earned a red card, so he will not play against Shakhtar. Interestingly, it was he who scored Minaj’s only goal against the Miners.
Head-to-head record
In the only previous meeting, the Orange-and-Blacks claimed a major 5-1 win.
