This victory of Shakhtar is the 50th in all competitions with Luis Castro at the helm.

Two seasons with the team

The Portuguese coach became Shakhtar's head coach on June 12, 2019. He won the Ukrainian League title in his first season and reached the Europa League semi-finals. In the 2020/21 season, the Miners also moved from the tough Champions League group to the Europa League knockout stages, where they stopped competing in the Round of 16. They also finished the UPL season as runners-up.

First and tenth

Shakhtar claimed their first victory under Luis Castro on July 31, 2019 at the Nika stadium in Oleksandriia (3-1). And in October, they celebrated the first European win – against Atalanta in Milan (2-1). By the way, this win was the 10th one for the coaching staff in all competitions.
